Government to make it affordable for civil servants to purchase apartments
The Armenian government is developing a program to facilitate the purchase of apartments by civil servants, Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said at the Cabinet meeting today.
“Beginning 2014, we plan to make it affordable for civil servants to purchase apartments, to make it possible for them to purchase apartments with mortgage,” the Prime Minister said.
According to Tigran Sargsyan, the number one obstacle is that it is necessary to make prepayment for buying apartment with mortgage and civil servants often do not have enough funds.
“We are ready to provide state guarantee of 30% for the banks not to demand 30% prepayment from them,” Mr Sargsyan said.
He also said that according to studies, it can raise the demand for apartments.
