On World Tourism Day, experts highlight need to develop tourism in Armenia
Tourism is developing in our country, but our advertising is weak – many peoples do not even know about our country, head of Armenian Guides Guild Lia Bakhshinyan told a news conference in Yerevan.
She noted that Armenia has much to show to tourists. Armenia’s history and culture are interesting for everyone. “We should present our crafts to tourists, we should show how we make lavash and how we knit carpets.”
Rector of Armenian Institute of Tourism Robert Minasyan, for his part, said that nowadays there are favorable conditions for the further development of tourism in Armenia. “The interest in many countries has decreased. We should be clever, and we should cooperate with donor countries that supply tourists.”
According to him, we should develop extreme and medical tourism. Mr Minasyan added that prices are not high in Armenia compared to many countries and service quality is high in our country.
Today is World Tourism Day. The purpose of this day is to raise awareness on the role of tourism within the international community and to demonstrate how it affects social, cultural, political and economic values worldwide.
