‘‘Kavkazskaya Politica’’: Game GTA 5 – black spot on Azerbaijani men

"Perhaps it would be better, if distribution of the copies of the game Grand Theft Auto 5in were banned in Azerbaijan, as, in fact, there is a direct insult to the Azerbaijani people there," writes journalist Zaur Karaev on the website "Kavkazskaya Politica."

The journalist has such an attitude towards this game because an FBI agent in the game says that a terrible spy is working at the Embassy of Azerbaijan and serious problems may soon begin in the United States because of him. However the identity of that person is unknown. Anyway, there is an Azerbaijani informant who is familiar with the spy and that shortly before the events of the mission, was "discovered" by the Central Intelligence Agency. Thus, the main character of the game - Michael is forced to perform the dirty work; he is forced to find the man who will have to "leak" information about the spy.

The most interesting is that the name of the informant is Ferdinand Kerimov. He is captured in the game and taken to a hut, where he will face Michael, FBI agents and Trevor, friend of Michael, who is a sociopath and extremely unbalanced personality. Next, they begin to torture the poor Kerimov. He initially tries to hold on, but in the end, gives all the information that he knows.

He tells that the spy is an ethnic Azeri. Michael tries to find a man in resembling Azerbaijani, but he does not know how representatives of this ethnic group look like, and then the agent accompanying him tells him that Azerbaijani is Asian. "A stupid joke, if it was a joke at all, and if not, then the creators of this game are" blockheads." I do not know how many Azerbaijanis are playing now GTA 5, but it seems that none of them would like someone to call them Asians, except the developers of Rockstar North, of course," the author writes.

The author writes that in the game Kerimov is betraying his own comrades, instantly forgetting about all the courage and duty towards his country - Azerbaijan. "Here it is obvious, cannot deliberate, spitting in the direction of the Azerbaijani special services, and this is a black spot on the Azerbaijani male representatives," said the author.

In his opinion, this is how the game developers see the Azerbaijanis. "The American psycho hero brings the Azerbaijani who is crying and suffering in pain to the airport. Azerbaijani stutters about his family, but Trevor by only one phrase immediately convinces him to forget his family and flee from the States. Kerimov, apparently agrees. Here it is - the image of a real man, the Caucasian man! He will betray his country, his comrades and will spit on his family!" the author writes.

The author reminds that in GTA 5 play tens of millions of people around the world, but the main part of them lives in the United States and English-speaking countries; and in those countries, known of Azerbaijan only by hearsay and that quite a few. The majority of American, French, British and other players know about Azerbaijan only thanks to the geography lessons. And now their knowledge is replenished; now they know about people that live in this country - spies who know nothing about honor, duty, courage, and other noble qualities.
