Wars eroding America like cancer: Gagnon
Press TV has conducted an interview with Bruce Gagnon, with the Global Network against Weapons and Nuclear Power in Space, from Maine about the UN mission to dismantle Syrian chemical weapons.
- This coming out now it appears that they are saying that the Syrian government is cooperating with the international inspectors.
What do you think though... Is this going to be enough to stop the warmongering and to stop the support for the terrorists against the Syrian government? How do you see this all playing itself out?
- I think that the United States and its allies, Britain and France and Saudi Arabia have been slowed down.
For a long time, the US and NATO have been unrestrained in their violence. We’ve seen in Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan; and now also on the African continent. And all of this of course is about resource extraction.
But now Russia and I think maybe China behind the scenes have stepped in to this situation. Iran has also made very significant statements about it and I think the US is being blocked.
But clearly we know that the US and its allies will continue to arm the rebels. I’m sure the CIA is still recruiting and directing the so-called rebels, who ultimately are terrorists and who we know are increasingly under the control of al-Qaeda, who supposedly is the enemy of the United States.
So, this contradiction is becoming more and more clear to the American people.
The recent successful stopping of Obama’s attack on Syria really was a victory for all of the American people who are saying, both Republican and Democrat and independent, they’re saying that we can’t afford another war, our country is falling apart.
Our schools, our roads, our bridges are literally deteriorating; our human infrastructure as well as our physical infrastructure of the nation as the military consumes like a cancer our economic budget.
So, this is a big development and I think for now the American people’s voice is strong, but clearly the corporate oligarchy that runs our country intends to continue to try to find a way to destroy the government of Syria.
