Chairman of the Union of Architects of Armenia Mkrtich Minasyan attaches importance to the fact that discussions are being held over the old (round) building of Zvartnots airport. 

At a meeting with reporters, he expressed hope that an optimal way for operating the building will be found during the discussions and the building will not be pulled down. 

He stressed that the best aviation experts have brought arguments that the building has great potential.

“By losing such buildings, we lose our beloved city. The task of the state is to protect architectural values,” Minasyan said.

Head of Armproject OJSC, chairman of the Public Council's urban planning sub-committee Grigor Azizyan, for his part, said that the 4 sub-committees of the Public Council have completed the discussions and the issue will soon be discussed in the Public Council. According to him, all sub-committees drew a unanimous conclusion that the old building of Zvartnots airport must not be pulled down.
