Hurriyet: Park after Heydar Aliyev in Ankara is turned into a garbage dump
The park after Heydar Aliyev, founded 7 years ago in Ankara, has turned into a garbage dump, according to Azerbaijani news portal "Haqqin.az" writes the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet.
According to information, the entire forest belt, consisting of 81 thousands of trees is left off-hand.
"Previously, there were a lot of people here walking around. Families were having rest here. But then they stopped taking care of the park and it turned into a landfill. Moreover, many alcoholics and drug addicts gather here at nights; they even caused a fire last week," complain the locals.
Commenting on the situation, the representatives of the Beyuksheher municipality on the territory of which the park is located say that this park does not exist according to the documents, and they cannot do anything about it.
In Azerbaijan, the personality cult of Heydar Aliyev was shaped during his lifetime, this process continued after his death. Streets, parks and various places (including the airport in Baku and refineries) were named in honor of the former president. The Azerbaijani textbooks present Heydar Aliyev as a "great leader" and the savior of Azerbaijan.
