Azerbaijani Ambassador threatens Russia with ‘‘boomerang’’ effect in connection with Mr. Zeynalov’s case

Yesterday, the Azerbaijani Ambassador to Russia Polad Bulbul oglu gave an interview on the air of Russian "Dozhdz" (Rain) TV channel touching upon the murder of Yegor Shcherbakov taken place in Moscow, and its aftermath – the pogrom on vegetable market, detention of Zeynalov, Azerbaijani citizen suspected in killing, and covering of situation in the media.

The ambassador condemned the "Russian hysteria in the media," noting that Russians live in Azerbaijan as well, and they also commit crimes against Azerbaijanis, bringing the murder Azerbaijani Khalilov by the Russian resident of Baku. In the same time Bulbul oghli noted that such development could have a "boomerang" effect. He also reminded that 25 million Muslims live in Russia.

According to the Azerbaijani Ambassador, the main culprit of the incident is Shcherbakov’s girlfriend, to whom probably Zeynalov molested: "On the radio in the car, I heard an interview with the girl because of whom all this mass happened; she excitedly said that she did not want to be a reason of inter-ethnic problems."

Bulbuloghlu urged not to exaggerate the incident, because such crimes will always exist, and they happen in Moscow every day or even every hour. "A man was walking with a girl, someone molested the girl – the man replied back," he said.

It is noteworthy that during the interview, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan called the murdered Yegor Shcherbakov, "this guy", and the citizen of Azerbaijan who is suspected of committing a murder "Mr. Zeynalov."

Commenting on the letter of the MP of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Yaroslav Nilov, who expressed perturbation at the fact that the Azerbaijani side was silent in connection with the notorious case, Bulbuloghlu stated that he hadn’t yet received the letter.
"Anyone who wishes to make a noise I would like to remind that any talks, any conclusions, inferences, making hot air with words before the court decision - are senseless."

In the same time the ambassador stated that Azerbaijan will support Zeynalov: "We have prepared a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry, tomorrow we will send it, and will require a consular assistance, for the person who is suspected in the murder. Attorneys must be allowed to him, a translator if it is necessary, and everything should organized in the legal field. "

It is also noteworthy also that the Ambassador of Azerbaijan tried to deny the obvious and well known fact that on October 15 during a football match held between Russia and Azerbaijan in Baku the Azerbaijani fans threw different objects at the Russian national team player, because of which he was forced to withdraw from the field.

On Thursday, October 10, in a fight, presumably a native of Azerbaijani, has stabbed and killed Yegor Shcherbakov, a Moscow resident. On Saturday evening, residents of that district came out onto to the streets, demanding to find the killer. On Sunday, a crowd of nationalists together with residents of West Biryulevo district sympathizing them, around 1,000 people, organized a pogrom at the vegetable market where many immigrants from the CIS republics work. Special purpose police unit arrived at the scene, and detained about 380 protestors. Six police officers suffered during the arrest including the Special purpose police unit battalion commander who was seriously injured.

It is noteworthy that the girlfriend of the killed Yegor Shcherbakov noted on the air of "Moscow 24" that she is against the rallies and does not want to stir up ethnic conflict. At present investigation of Shcherbakov’s murder is under special control of the head of the Moscow police.

Later, the police began to conduct raids against the migrants. Thus, October 14, according to RIA "Novosti", 1,200 migrants have been detained during a police raid on Pokrovski vegetable market in Western Biryulevo in Moscow.

On October 15 the suspected murderer of Azerbaijani origin Orhan Zeynalov was arrested in Kolomna near Moscow.
