Descendants of Alfred Nobel refuse further cooperation with Baku Nobel Heritage Fund
A major scandal erupted in Stockholm. Center for Industrial History refused further cooperation with the Baku Nobel Heritage Fund at the scientific and innovative conference of the organization, "RBK" reads referring to the "Sweden" radio.
As noted in the article from the very opening of the conference (13-14 September), Swedish participants were alerted by its unusual scale: Azerbaijani side rented the great hall of Stockholm famous restaurant “Berns” for a two-day meeting, and the most fashionable and expensive restaurant of "Grand Hotel" for the banquet.
"The thrifty Swedes were not used to such a scale, and when it turned out that the participants did not have to pay too, it seemed even more bizarre for them," the article says.
The author notes that at the so called "scientific innovation" conference only 10 minutes was given on scientific reports; no time remained for the questions and thought exchanges. But on the other hand there were many politicians, like the former President of Finland Tarja Halonen and Togrul Bagirov, the chairman of the Baku Nobel Heritage Fund, as well as ambassadors.
"The conference was announced to be a scientific one, but there were too many politicians there. Therefore, the Centre for Business History in Sweden decided not to cooperate with the Baku Nobel Heritage Fund any more in this form," said Helen Karlbekona a member of scientific committee.
In its turn, the executive director of the Centre for Business History Alexander Hyusebyu, who heads the “Branobel” project, reminded that this was the second time that the conference is being held. The first one was held in Baku, and even then it was clear that the Azerbaijani side is seeking to use the name of the Nobel for its own purposes.
"They want to use the conference in Stockholm and the whole Nobel history, rather, for representative purposes. That's why the Azerbaijani side was in a hurry: it appointed the conference not in 2 years after conference held in Baku, as we had planned, but a year later," he said.
As noted in the material, as a result the Industrial History Center of Stockholm refused to participate in the conference and left its Council. Tumas Tyuden, the direct descendant of the Nobel brothers, a Swedish pedagogy professor from Falun, Dalarn province, the chairman of Nobel Family Association, also left the Council.
The article reminds that Ludwig Nobel was a Swedish and Russian engineer, an inventor, entrepreneur and philanthropist, the elder brother and business partner of famous Alfred Nobel, the founder of the Nobel Prize.
