Republic of Armenia should recognize Armenian Genocide – NGO chairman
The Republic of Armenia should recognize the Armenian Genocide, chairman of Kashatagh NGO Robert Simonyan told reporters in Yerevan, while commenting on the recognition of the Armenian Genocide.
According to him, in 1988, the Supreme Council of Armenia passed a resolution condemning the Armenian Genocide, but it did not become law.
Mr Simonyan noted that as an NGO chairman, he has applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), demanding that Turkey should return historical Armenian territories and pay a compensation to Armenia. He has also made territorial claims to Azerbaijan and Georgia.
Simonyan said that the ECtHR has no right to dismiss his claim.
“I intend to apply to the UN Security Council and the International Court of Justice,” he said.
