Zardusht Alizadeh: Government gave Karabakh and took the rest of Azerbaijan

The point of domestic and foreign policy of the Azerbaijani authorities is to plunder the country with impunity and to not one share with anyone, said Zardusht Alizadeh, a famous Azerbaijani political scientist in an interview given to "Minval.az".

Responding to a question, how will develop Azerbaijan its relations with the West and with Russia during the next five years of Ilham Aliyev’s presidency, the political scientist said that foreign policy is the continuation of the internal one.

"What is the point of this policy of Azerbaijan? The point is that the elite groups are engaged in the privatization of oil, gas, budget, corruption revenues. This is the main purpose of their existence and operation. For the smooth implementation of this internal policy, the government is suitably carrying out a foreign policy which, will first provide the so-called absolute sovereignty of Azerbaijan, that is the irregularity of international law and the commitments which our country undertook, which would have prevented the current elite to steal," he said.

According to Alizadeh, that is why the Azerbaijani authorities to raise the flag of the Republic, celebrate the Flag Day, educate people in a spirit of loyalty to sovereignty. "As if the sovereignty does not refer to Karabakh, to the enforcement of the law, and only refers to the fact that he could threaten all foreign countries with finger," he said, noting that the policy of the authorities is directed at breaking the processes of globalization and European integration, as far as it would hinder them from robbing Azerbaijan.

Touching upon the relations with Russia, the political scientist stated that in his time "the noble Khan" Heydar Aliyev has built relationship with that country, which would limit the interference of Kremlin in the affairs of Azerbaijan. "They should pay for it. He paid with Karabakh. And the rest was his hierarchy, saying that, do not interfere in the internal affairs," Alizadeh said, noting that Azerbaijan had become Heydar Aliyev’s estate, which he ran as he wanted.

According to Alizadeh, Heydar Aliyev has "given" Karabakh, getting in return the rest of the Azerbaijan along with oil and gas. Political scientist noted that Azerbaijan will not join the Eurasian Union as the sense of the policy of government is in the fact of not sharing with anyone. "We have no desire to go with Russia. We are here, while there a Russian oligarch will come out and will require a share," he said.
Answering the question why Azerbaijan has not developed very good relations with Turkey Aliade noted that Turkey wanted to get deeper into the affairs of Azerbaijan. "Especially into the oil affairs. And our government hit them on their hands, saying that they should not hanker for the holy lakes. That’s why today we have such a cool friendship with Turkey. Keep distance - we are keeping a distance with all the countries in order to let the authorities to plunder Azerbaijan with impunity. In politics this is their main purpose of existence," stated the political scientist.

"The Azerbaijani authorities protect their right to be the owners of their independent territory and wealth. Therefore, it is not going to be at war with anyone, including quarrels with Armenia. The gave a word – they gave Karabakh and took Baku. As they say, a man should keep his word. He will tell stories to the people while being engage in parallel development of means. And this is the most important. In this case, the European orientation is disadvantageous. Europe will require us to be transparent and honest. And it's uncomfortable for the authorities. At the house of a hanged no one talks of rope," the expert thisnk.

Alizadeh stated that Russia is dangerous for the government of Azerbaijan since it wants to "enter" into the republic and take a fair share of revenues. "It is also dangerous with Iran: there specific ideological direction, based on the idea of social justice. Therefore, Islam is dangerous too. Thus recipe that our nation is being fed is simple: the national leader and his dear successor," he said.
Answering the question what has the closed and hasty inauguration of President Aliyev been connected with, the political scientist said that Azerbaijan has become financially quite independent. "The authorities at present behave themselves like Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme. Have capitals. They openly say that they own finances and due to this do not depend on anyone. That’s why they do not take into account the views of the West and the ruleof the people calmly," he said.

However, according to Alizadeh there is no confrontation between the West and Azerbaijan. "For some reason we dramatize the situation. For the West, Azerbaijan is somewhere in the 99th place, and maybe on the 200th. The West has a lot of problems. And they are not concerned with Azerbaijan", he said.
