Poverty level is decreasing in Armenia – Finance Minister
Poverty level is decreasing in Armenia, Armenian Finance Minister David Sargsyan said at the parliamentary hearing on the 2014 draft budget today.
“In 2010, poverty index was 35.8%, the highest index, which was due to the consequences of the economic crisis. In 2011, that index was 35%. According to the Finance Ministry estimates, in 2012, poverty index was about 32-33%. That is, we fixed a decrease of poverty level,” the Minister said.
Mr Sargsyan noted that the Finance Ministry predicts that poverty level will continue to decrease in Armenia next year due to the increase of salaries and pensions.
