Iran bartered 1.5 billion cubic meters of gas for Armenian electricity in 2007-2012
There are all necessary preconditions for the development of Armenian-Iranian relations in the field of energy, Iranian Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian has said during his meeting with Armenian Deputy Energy Minister Ara Simonyan on the sidelines of the 44th session of the CIS Electric Power Council in Moscow, according to ISNA news agency.
Referring to Armenian-Iranian relations in the energy sector, the Iranian Minister said, “We are convinced that currently, the existing cooperation between Iran and Armenia may be expanded in the sectors of oil, gas and electricity.”
Armenia’s Deputy Energy Minister said for his part that Armenia attaches much importance to the development of its ties with Iran.
The National Iranian Gas Company (NIGC) said recently that around 1.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas has been traded with Armenian electricity in 2007-2012, the Iranian news agency said.
