A road in one of Baku’s villages is paved with Christian gravestones
In Rasulzade village of Binagadi district in Baku a road is paved by gravestones, the Azerbaijani news site “Oxu.az” reports.
According to the website, the villagers are horrified by the tombstones, of which the road of the district is constructed. It is noted that on some of them the faces of the dead are depicted.
"According to residents, a month ago, a water line was drawn in the district. Then, they poured large stones on the road in order to repair it. A few days later it began to rain, which washed away the surface of the stones, and it became clear that these were gravestones," says the publication.
It should be noted that the video-footage clearly shows that the tombstones, of which the road is constructed, are of Christians’. Photos of the dead are depicted on the plates.
The executive body of Binagadi district stated that they were not engaged in that matter, and promised to find out by whom and where those stones came from, writes “Oxu.az”.
In late 2002, the Azerbaijani military destroyed 3000 Armenian cross-stones in Julfa which were recognized a cultural heritage by UNESCO. In December 2005, the Azerbaijani military hammered and broke last debris of the cross stones and through into Araks river. This crime was captured from the Iranian coast side.
Also in 2007 Narimanov cemetery in Azerbaijan was destroyed. Here there were mostly Armenians and Russian buried.
