PM Sargsyan meets with Viktor Khristenko
Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan received a delegation headed by Chairman of Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko on Wednesday.
"I am glad to welcome you in the Government of the Republic of Armenia. I was told about the discussion going within the working groups and the wide range of the questions representing bilateral interests is included in the agenda of our today's meeting," Prime Minister Sargsyan said.
"It is the first time we arrive in Armenia with such a large delegation. It is caused by the need of implementation of the decision made by presidents of the Customs Union member countries, which refers to the beginning of the process of Armenia’s accession to the Customs Union and a common economic space," Viktor Khristenko noted.
During the meeting, the joint working groups’ representatives reported on the results of the study of a number of questions relating to the process of accession of Armenia to the Customs Union and the results of discussions. In particular, questions relating to technical, sanitary, phytosanitary regulation, tariff and non-tariff regulation, antimonopoly regulation, customs information technologies, as well as customs and tax spheres questions were raised. In this context, the question of reduction of the legislation of Armenia in compliance with the general legislation of the Customs Union also was raised. Having summed up the results of discussions, the parties recorded the reached agreements and confirmed the readiness for continuation of negotiations.
Then a Memorandum of Deepening Interaction between Armenia and the Eurasian Economic Commission was signed. The document was signed on behalf of the Republic of Armenia by Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Tigran Sargsyan, on behalf of the Eurasian Economic Commission by Chairman of Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko.
The signing ceremony was followed by a joint press conference of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Chairman of Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko, the government's press service reported.
