Expert: Armenia’s decision to join Customs Union is connected with Karabakh issue
Armenia’s decision to join the Customs Union is due to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, political scientist Sergey Minasyan told a news conference on Friday.
“That will give the Armenian side military and political dividends and Armenia will continue the existing military and technical cooperation with Russia,” the expert said.
Minasyan said that Armenia purchases weapons from Russia at low prices or gets them for free, while Azerbaijan pays billions of dollars for them.
“Military operations are unlikely to take place in Nagorno-Karabakh in short-term and mid-term perspective,” he added.
