Haykakan Zhamanak: Armenia’s meat imports decrease by 1,700 tons
The volumes of Armenia’s pork and beef imports decreased by about 1,700 tons, or 14 percent, in the first 9 months of this year compared to the previous year. The volumes of the country’s meat production did not increase in that period. It means that meat consumption decreased by about 4 percent compared to the same period in 2012. It is noteworthy that meat prices did not change abruptly in the indicated period. So, such changes of meat consumption volumes may be due to two key factors: decrease of the number of population and decrease of purchasing capacity, Haykakan Zhamanak newspaper says.
