Armenian schoolboy killed in Damascus blast
The Armenian gymnasium of Damascus is mourning the deaths of four pupils and a bus driver killed in a mortar blast on Monday, Syrian Armenian Vahe Shahinian told Panorama.am.
Armenian schoolboy Hovhannes Atokanian was among the killed.
Shahinian said that four mortar shells exploded near the Bab Sharqi Gate, not far from the Armenian gymnasium. The blast occurred at the moment when the schoolchildren were leaving the school.
More than 41,000 civilians — including 6,000 children and 4,000 women — have been killed during the two-and-a-half-year conflict in Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
