Azerbaijani flag was raised upside down again during Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Turkey
An unpleasant incident took place during the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Turkey, Azerbaijani news portal "Minval.az" reports.
Turkish president Abdullah Gul and his Azerbaijani counterpart, Ilham Aliyev had a familiarization visit to the Aerospace Industry Company in Turkey. During the visit a picture was taken which revealed that the Azerbaijani flag was hanging upside down. Soon, the photo was published on the Azerbaijani President’s official webpage on Facebook.
"If we look at the photo, we can immediately notice that the Azerbaijani flag is put upside down," "Minval.az" notes.
Such incidents have occurred in the past as well, including the official meetings. Thus, in June 2011 during the meeting of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Chairman of the European Commission Jose Manuel Barroso the order of the colors of the Azerbaijani flag was broken. In February 2012, at the 48th Munich Security Conference during the meeting of President of Azerbaijan with the U.S.
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton the colors of the Azerbaijani flag were mixed once again. Thus, the flag raised behind Ilham Aliyev belonged to an unknown state and consisted of blue, red and blue stripes.
Later, in June 2012, another curious incident occurred with the Azerbaijani flag on the Azerbaijani Public TV. In one of the TV programs the flag of Azerbaijan was displayed upside down. It is noteworthy that at that time Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashayeva who is known for her ardent patriotism was in the studio.
