Ilham Aliyev will not attend Georgian President’s inauguration ceremony, despite invitations received from Tbilisi
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev will not attend the inauguration ceremony of Georgian President, despite the invitation received from Tbilisi. Azerbaijani Ambassador to Georgia Azer Tofig oglu Hussein stated after the meeting with the newly elected president of Georgia Georgi Margvelashvili that the inauguration ceremony will be attended by the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, the Georgian news agency “apsny.ge” reports.
It says that the Azerbaijani Ambassador has once again passed to Margvelashvily congratulations from President Ilham Aliyev on his election as president.
"We talked about the bilateral good-neighborly relations and strategic partnership. We are convinced that Georgi Margvelavshili will continue this policy in the future," said the Ambassador.
The newly elected president of Georgia will meet today with the Ambassador of Japan to Georgia Toshio Kaytani, German Ambassador Ortwin Hennig, Chinese Ambassador Yu Gin, Ambassador of France Renaud Salins and the former Ambassador of France to Georgia Eric Fournier, who currently holds the position of the head of the Eastern Europe department at the Foreign Ministry in France and is the great friend of the Prime Minister of Georgia Bidzina Ivanishvili.
Note that on November 7, in 2013 Azerbaijani news agency "APA" reported that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev was invited to the inauguration ceremony of the newly elected President of Georgia Georgi Margelashvili which was to be held on November 17. As the Ambassador of Georgia to Azerbaijan Teimuraz Sharashenidze informed Georgian Foreign Ministry has sent corresponding invitation letter to the President of Azerbaijan on November 1. Besides Ilham Aliyev Azerbaijani Prime Minister Artur Rasi-zade, chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament Ogtay Asadov, as well as the Foreign Minister of the country Elmar Mamediarov were invited to the ceremony.
At the Georgian President’s inauguration ceremony Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian and Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Armen Movsisyan will be present.
