Armenian, Azeri Presidents agree to continue meetings
The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group issued a statement on the meeting of Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan Serzh Sargsyan and Ilham Aliyev held in Vienna today. According to the Armenian President’s press service, the statement said, in part:
“The Co-Chairs welcomed Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan and Azeri President Ilham Aliyev in Vienna, where the Presidents had arrived together with the Foreign Ministers of the two countries to continue the negotiations aimed at the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. The Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group and the Personal Representative of the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office were also present at the meeting, which was the first meeting of the Presidents after the summit held in Sochi in January 2012.
During the tête-à-tête meeting as well as the meeting with the participation of the Co-Chairs and the Ministers, the Presidents discussed a wide range of issues related to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The Presidents agreed to intensify the negotiations aimed at reaching a peaceful settlement and instructed the Foreign Ministers together with the Co-Chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group to continue work based on what has already been done in order to boost the peace process. They agreed to meet again in the coming months.
As a next step, the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs will organize working meetings with the Ministers on the sidelines of the meeting of the OSCE Foreign Ministers Council that will be held in Kiev on December 5-6, 2013. The Co-Chairs plan to visit the region by the end of this year.”
