‘Talk about HIV, get tested for HIV’
As part of the European week about the investigation of HIV being held on November 22-29, initiated by “HIV in Europe,” the Youth Foundation of Armenia will hold a project called "Talk about HIV, get tested for HIV" in the regions of Armenia and in Yerevan.
The project is held in cooperation with the National Center for AIDS Prevention of Ministry of Health of the Republic of Armenia. As part of the project, students of 5 state universities located in Yerevan will be given information about HIV, discussions will be held, during which young people once again will be informed about HIV. Then an informative film will be shown. The discussions will focus on importance of giving a person knowledge about HIV in early years, and the persons who will need additional information will be consulted and examined about HIV.
In the regions of RA the youth centers of the Youth Foundation of Armenia will hold seminar discussions, the films will be shown about HIV, young people will be given information about HIV.
The implementation of this project will raise the informative level of the youth about HIV, so the number of young people protected from HIV will also rise. The participants will also get knowledge on how to act in order not to be infected with HIV. Nowadays in Europe there are 2.3 million people living with HIV, and one in three does not know about HIV. The infection has from 8 to 10 years hidden period of diagnostic, during which the person who is infected usually doesn’t have any complaints and has healthy appearance. The diagnostic of the half of the persons infected with HIV is confirmed in late periods of the infection. So it becomes the reason that the treatment starts very late and it harms the productivity. The main reason for this situation is that the persons are not examined about HIV before the symptoms arise.
