‘Half nation rampaging against Thai PM’
Press TV has conducted an interview with Kraisak Choonhaven, former Thailand Senator, Bangkok, about the issue of aggressive anti-government protests in Thailand, which has seized control of a broadcast network and also stormed a police compound where the prime minister was holed up.
- Please tell us how the situation is transpiring in Thailand right now and if there is a quick fix to the situation.
- There is no quick fix at all. I think the people are just very tired and fed up. Now, it’s starting to become a groundswell of anger against this government that is being manipulated from this dictatorship from Dubai.
We feel that the system has insulted us, insulted our intelligence to put such a stupid women in charge. And every word is put into her mouth, she cannot operate independently from her brother who is an escaped convict here, an escaped convict with 2 or 3 if not more crimes that he has committed.
He is a master of mass murders and genocidal cases in the south. Because of him we’ve had nearly 5,700 dead in the south - and mostly Muslim. He was instrumental in massacring all of the prisoners that were captured there and torturing has become extrajudicial, it has become the norm now of this government.
And we here in Bangkok and in vicinity provinces and in nearly 25 provinces have taken over their provincial towns. The government cannot operate functionally anymore.
This is a show of cross class, cross political divide and those who have supported Thaksin (Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra) have now come out to support us. We have farmers, we have union leaders - 45 union leaders of state enterprises such as the railways, telecommunications, airlines and even women workers have taken to the stage with the ex-opposition parties.
So this is the stupid Western gullible to Thaksin’s propaganda saying that we are the elite. Do you know how many elites there are? They are only about 3 percent. How can millions of people be elite?
Thaksin is not fighting the elite, he is fighting the entire nation. Or at least more than half of them have come up against him.
