Opponents of accumulative pension system hold protest in Yerevan
Members of civil initiative ‘Against Compulsory Accumulative Pension Payments’ are again protesting today – this time driving through the capital. The protest action started near the Sports and Concerts Complex and moved to Republic Square.
The protest is against the introduction of compulsory accumulative pension system in Armenia. The Law on the Accumulative Pension System, which enters into force on January 1, 2014, stipulates that Armenian citizens born after 1974 must transfer 5% of their wages to a private pension fund.
