Latvian Ambassador presents credentials to Armenian President
Today newly appointed Ambassador of Latvia to Armenia Elita Gavele (seat in Tbilisi) presented her credentials to Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan.
The President congratulated Ambassador Gavele on her appointment, wished success and expressed hope that during her tenure in office she will do her best to use her professional abilities and experience to further relations between Armenia and Latvia.
The parties stressed the importance of Armenian-Latvian cooperation in bilateral as well as multilateral formats.
Ambassador Elita Gavele on behalf of her country expressed readiness in the first half of year 2015, during Latvia’s chairmanship of the EU, to cooperate closely with Armenia and provide necessary assistance. She underscored that in the mentioned period of time, the Eastern Partnership program will be a priority for Latvia.
The two sides discussed a number of issues related to the invigoration of the political dialogue between Armenia and Latvia and development of cooperation in the areas of mutual interest.
The President of Armenia and the Ambassador of Latvia also exchanged views on regional issues, the presidential press service reported.
