Edward Nalbandian meets with Evelyn Farkas
Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine and Eurasia Evelyn Farkas, the Foreign Ministry’s press service said.
The two sides discussed Armenia’s participation in international peacekeeping operations, stressing the importance of Armenia’s contribution to peacekeeping missions in Afghanistan and Kosovo.
Armenia-NATO relations were also discussed.
Edward Nalbandian touched upon arms control in the region, in particular the need for updating the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty for maintaining peace in the region.
Nalbandian said that Armenia takes an active part in international efforts on nonproliferation of weapons of mass destruction, nuclear, chemical and biological weapons as well as fight against terrorism.
The Armenian FM also spoke about the latest developments in the Karabakh peace process and Armenia’s stance on regional problems.
