Tatevik Bezhanyan: Most of Armenians leaving country go to Russia
There is no exact information about migration, even the respective service does not have exact information about the number of people who left the country and who came back, Tatevik Bezhanyan, migration programs coordinator of the People in Need NGO, told reporters in Yerevan.
She noted that 73.1% of migrants leave for Russia, 7.9% for the United States and 4.4% for Ukraine. A small number of Armenians go to Europe because of visa difficulties.
Ms Bezhanyan said that some migrants return to Armenia and that labor migrants easier reintegrate in Armenia.
According to her, the biggest problem in the sector is the lack of awareness and very often people have no information about the country where they go. For instance, she said, people do not know that those staying in Russia for more than 90 days are considered illegal migrants.
