Dmitry Orlov: Probably Russia will contribute to referendum in Karabakh
Russia will probably contribute to referendum in Karabakh, says CEO of the analytical center of "Strategy for the East-West" Dmitry Orlov.
According to the Azerbaijani news agency "Vesti.az" Orlov believes that three questions will be raised at the referendum in Karabakh.
First: "Would you like to be a sovereign republic?" Second, "Would you like to be a part of Azerbaijan?" And third, "Would you like to be a part of Armenia?"
However, according to the expert, the question of the referendum will depend on the "special opinion" of the main person of Russia. "In this regard it is premature to talk about the referendum, and the soon recognition of NKR independence by Russia," the expert believes.
The political scientist stated that the status quo in the Karabakh conflict is beneficial for both some politicians and for ordinary people who have their own benefits.
Deputy Director of the Caucasus Institute of Yerevan Sergey Minasyan answered the question of the Azerbaijani news agency, whether Armenia expects that its entry into the Customs Union will worsen the Azerbaijani-Russian relations, noted that the deterioration of the Azerbaijani-Russian relations will occur by itself.
"The recent event, concerning the political decision of Armenia joining the Customs Union, is directly related to the Karabakh conflict. Moreover, we can say that this was the main reason and the point of this decision," Minasyan said.
