Reception of applications for participation in Orange Book Prize closed
Yesterday at midnight reception of applications for participation in the annual Orange Book Prize 2013 came to its close. Total 327 applications for participation in the contest have been presented, out of which 152 poems, 121 short stories, 27 novels and 27 fairy tales.
In comparison with previous years, more works written in Western Armenian were presented. Participation of regional authors is considerable, especially those from Lori, Syunik and Shirak regions. Applications were also received from Russia, Great Britain and France.
Starting now the Jury will read all the received works. Maximum three best works in each category will be selected and posted at Orange official web page on 21 February, 2014. From that day on the readers will have the chance to vote for their favorite works through Facebook. On 21 March, 2014, at noon the results of the online voting will be finalized and the number of votes per each work will be recorded.
The winner in each category will be selected based on the votes of the Jury. The results of the online voting will be considered as the vote of one Jury member. In addition, the work with maximum votes of readers will get the special Popular prize, regardless of the category.
Names of the winners will be announced during the awards ceremony on March 28, 2014. The winners will be granted certificates and the winning works will be published in 500 copies. The authors of the winning works in each category will be granted monetary rewards (300 000 AMD per each), except for the holder of the Popular prize.
130 works participated in Orange Book Prize 2011 and 470 works participated in Orange Book Prize 2012. Thanks to the contest, already 9 books have been published.
