Second suicide in a week occurs in Azerbaijani Armed Forces
Another soldier in Azerbaijan committed suicide. The incident occurred in a military unit of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic.
Military unit soldier Abdullayev Mazakhir Mahir oglu (born in 1992) committed suicide, the Azeri news agency "APA" reports.
The incident fact was confirmed in the Defense Ministry of Azerbaijan; it was noted that military prosecutor's office opened a criminal case on this occasion and an investigation was underway.
In January 2013, M. Abdullayev was called up for a military service from Sabunchu district of Baku.
In 2013 the state structures of Azerbaijan confirmed the information on death of 79 soldiers, 70 of whom died in noncombat conditions, of whom 9 who committed suicide. In addition, the media reported about several cases of deaths of soldiers.
Numerous deaths of Azerbaijani soldiers in non-combat situation and the attempts of the Azerbaijani authorities to conceal the facts led to two major protests in Baku in 2013. The first rally was held on January 12 and the second - on March 10. The two protests were violently dispersed by the police; parents of the soldiers killed in army faced violence too.
Within 11 days in 2014 the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry confirmed 2 cases of suicide. The first case occurred on January 4, when 18-year-old Rahim Nail oglu Ismailov hanged himself up; the latter was drafted into the Armed Forces of Azerbaijan in October 2013.
