Trial in Vardan Petrosyan case to continue behind closed doors
Today judge Yuri Baghdasaryan rejected the petition of defense lawyer of actor Vardan Petrosyan, Nikolay Baghdasaryan, challenging the judge.
Nikolay Baghdasaryan told Panorama.am that the new prosecutor, Vahe Sargsyan, petitioned for holding the hearings in the case behind closed doors. The judge sustained the petition.
Regarding his future actions, Nikolay Baghdasaryan said, “I will defend interests of Vardan Petrosyan within the law.”
On October 20, 2013, a VAZ-21214 and a BMW-320 collided at the 2nd km of Yeghvard-Yerevan highway. The driver of VAZ and six passengers were hospitalized with injuries. Two of the passengers died in the hospital. Vardan Petrosyan was driving the BMW. A criminal case was opened under Article 242 part 3 of the Criminal Code. On November 9, the Kotayk court chose arrest as a measure of restraint for Vardan Petrosyan.
