Expert: Erdogan’s AKP party will be the only alternative for Armenians
This year is expected to be difficult for Turkey’s ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) led by Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkish studies expert Artak Shakaryan told reporters in Yerevan.
According to him, Turkey will hold local government elections in March and presidential elections in August.
The expert stressed that despite the bad relations, Erdogan’s party is the least of all evils for Armenia and Armenians as the other parties are more nationalistic, more pro-Azerbaijani and more dangerous.
Shakaryan noted that in the past three elections Turkish Armenians voted for AKP and that party will be the only alternative for Armenians in the coming elections as well.
