Hero soldier buried in Yerablur Pantheon
Junior sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan killed as a result of the Azeri subversive act on the night of January 20 was buried on January 22 in Yerablur Pantheon in Yerevan as a hero, accompanied by a honorary escort and military orchestra.
The funeral was attended by Armenian Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan, other military officials, political and public figures, as well as Hovhannisyan’s family, relatives, friends and fellow servicemen.
In his remarks, Seyran Ohanyan stressed that the loss is irretrievable and hailed the heroism of the soldier.
Armen Hovhannisyan was buried next to Artsakh War heroes.
On the night of January 20, Azeri units tried to infiltrate Armenian positions in northeastern and southeastern sections of the contact line of Karabakh and Azeri troops. The frontline units of the NKR Defense Army fought back the incursion in both directions and threw back the enemy, causing considerable material and human losses. Junior sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan was killed by Azeri fire while performing his military duty at the northeastern military position.
