Haykakan Zhamanak: Tea and coffee to be subject to excise tax
From April 1 the Armenian government will mark a number of goods with excise stamp, in particular soap, laundry detergent, vegetable oil, cosmetic goods, preservatives, ice cream, tea and coffee.
According to Haykakan Zhamanak, during its next meeting, the cabinet will consider a bill on amendments and addenda to the Law on Trade and Services, which includes the above mentioned provision.
“Fight against shadow economy is given as the reason for the new measure. Thus, marking goods with excise stamp will ease the registration of produced and imported goods so it will be easier to tax them,” the newspaper writes.
