Slain Artsakh soldier awarded medal posthumously
By a decree of Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan, Artsakh Junior Sergeant Armen Hovhannisyan, who died last week heroically defending his homeland, was awarded posthumous 1st degree medal “For Services to Homeland.”
Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan presented the medal to Armen’s parents during an award ceremony at the Presidential Palace on the occasion of the 22nd anniversary of Armenian Army.
Those present observed one minute's silence in memory of the slain soldier.
Armen Hovhannisyan’s mother congratulated Armenian soldiers on Army Day. Speaking about her son, she said, “He realized what he was going for. I am very proud of my son.”
