Zhoghovurd: 30% of fish farms stop working
The increase in the electricity price has had a negative impact on fish farming, Zhoghovurd newspaper writes. The volume of groundwater has decreased, so fish breeders in many communities of Ararat and Armavir provinces have to use more electricity as they use pumps to supply water to reservoirs. 30% of fish farms have stopped working, the newspaper notes.
“Fish farms are nearing bankruptcy because they have large credits and are in a tough situation,” chairman of the Union of Fish Breeders Armen Buniatyan told Zhoghovurd. According to him, the increase in the electricity price has also impacted fish prices, which will rise by AMD 100-200 soon.
