Israel not honoring any agreements - analyst
Press TV has conducted an interview with Eli Joseph James, a radio host and political commentator, about EU Ambassador to Israel Lars Faaborg-Andersen saying that Israel will face “increasing isolation” if the talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority (PA) fail.
- Looking at the comments recently made by the European Union’s ambassador to Israel as well as John Kerry a few days back, it does seem that this BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) campaign is quickly gaining momentum and putting Israel into isolation. How do you see this moving forward?
- Well I hope that it is going to be policy; the statement you just read suggested that it won’t be official policy of the European community. There might be private policy by corporations, etc.
However it needs to be official EU policy, it needs to be UN policy because the fact of the matter is that the Israelis have not honored any agreements that have been put forward by any of the non-aligned nations, by the EU, UN, etc. In fact it dates back all the way back to the Balfour Declaration which was responsible for creating the Israeli ... [entity] in the first place.
That declaration clearly stated that the rights of the Palestinian people will not be violated or prejudiced in favor of Jewish incoming people. So we can trace the violations by the Zionists of one resolution, at least 28 resolutions by the UN have been totally ignored by the Israelis.
So it is time for the European community, for corporations, for the UN and others, especially governments to start making the Israelis accept the terms of the agreements that are supposed to uphold.
- Well I would like to pick up on that. Why do you think that there is this lack of action on the part of governments and political representatives specifically in the West when it comes to Israel especially now that we see there is more public awareness and demand for such a boycott?
- Well it is very clear that the Israelis not just through the Israeli ... [entity] but through the World Zionist Organization which actually created the United Nations and thereby created the Israeli ... [entity] but their influence on governments throughout the world, for example in America we have the AIPAC, the American Israeli Public Affairs Committee which pretty much determines policy of American government vis-à-vis the Middle East.
So the Israelis have been given a blank check to do whatever they please as long as the international community does not have any muscle behind its resolutions.
So the EU and the non-aligned nations need to put some muscle, they have to sanction the Israelis and put some economic clout behind their statements which has up to now been lacking.
