Ruben Hakobyan: Hovik Abrahamyan’s statement was a caprice
Head of Heritage parliamentary faction Ruben Hakobyan called a caprice the latest statement of Armenian National Assembly Speaker on the necessity to create a commission to examine gas issues following the parliament majority’s refusal to accept the proposal of the non-coalition factions to set up a parliament commission to examine the gas debt of Armenia and determine the reasons for the difference between the wholesale and retail prices of natural gas.
Speaking of his own position at today’s press briefing in parliament, Hakobyan said that he will express his view when he sees the draft of the commission’s formation and makes sure that it is going to examine those issues on which the opposition insisted.
On February 3, the four non-coalition parliamentary factions – ARFD, Prosperous Armenia, Armenian National Congress and Heritage – launched a signature campaign for the establishment of a commission to examine the 300-million-dollar gas debt of Armenia and determine the reasons for the difference between the wholesale and retail prices of natural gas. On February 5, the Armenian parliament rejected the proposal by a vote of 58-44.
