Obama is first 'war god' in history – journalist
Press TV has conducted an interview with Sherwood Ross, a journalist and blogger from Miami, responding to the vague legalities of the use of US terror drones and the unprecedented power of US president to kill.
- Looking at the way the White House has handled requests from (ACLU) America’s Civil Liberties Union and other rights activist groups demanding more clarification and more transparency on the drone program, what do you think the White House is afraid of if the information comes out in the open?
- I think they are afraid of being exposed as a pack of totalitarian warmongers, which I believe is what they are.
The powers that the president has are extraordinary. He is no longer a president. He should not be referred to by the American people or people around the world as a president. He is a king. He’s made himself a king.
He has the power over life and death of people all over the world not just American citizens but people in Pakistan, Somalia and Yemen and in every other country.
No king ever had the power to kill his enemies on the other side of the world just by issuing a command. This man is a 'war god.' And the first true 'war god 'in the history of this planet.
Recently he is quoted as telling his staff, “I didn’t know I would be so good at killing.” Well, he is a master at it.
So far one US Senator has said that the drone strikes have killed 4,700 people to date.
We are all citizens of the world. The life of a person in Yemen is worth as much as a life of a person in America. I believe that all men and women are created equal and it is wrong to extra-legally, extra-judicially kill any human being on this planet.
That’s what the fight should be about. The fight is not whether the president is sufficiently transparent; the fight is whether the president is a king of the world.
- This lack of due process when it comes to these drone attacks where in this particular case the American citizen has not even been legally charged yet.
- Neither have the people in Yemen and Somalia and in Iraq and Pakistan been legally charged yet - and they’re dead; and their children are dead; and their homes are destroyed; and the places where they work are destroyed.
Even funeral processions have been attacked by the Central Intelligence Agency and the US Pentagon. This is about as low as you can get, to attack a funeral procession; or to attack a first responder, a doctor or a fire fighter who has come to bring help to the stricken.
These people play by no rules. They are ruthless and they need to be stopped by a non-violent protest ...
