EU Centre and AEGEE-Yerevan / Yerevan European Students’ Forum Association Youth NGO launched a series of the “Erasmus+ Info Action Day” youth events on Friday, 28 February 2014 at the EU Centre.

Team Leader of the EU Centre Ehtel Halliste opened the first ever “Erasmus+ Info Action Day” and noted that Erasmus + is a wonderful opportunity for Armenian students to change the environment and learn something new. “Erasmus+ brings together three main experiences – living in a different culture, be taught in a different way and make many new friends,” Ms Halliste said.

More than 60 Armenian students, activists from various regions of Armenia and the representatives of different civil society youth organizations had a chance to explore the new educational and training possibilities offered by the European Union.

The aim of these events is to raise awareness among Armenian students and civil society youth organisations about new educational and training possibilities provided by the European Union. Erasmus+ is a new EU programme for Education, Training, Youth and Sport for the period of 2014-2020. Erasmus+ brings together seven existing EU programmes in the fields of Education, Training and Youth. For the first time European Union also supports Sport. Erasmus+ offers more opportunities for cooperation across the Education, Training, Youth and Sport sectors and is easier to access than its predecessors with simplified funding rules. Erasmus+ aims at boosting skills and employability of young people and modernising Education, Training and Youth work. The new EU programme has some changes and takes into account the current societal and economic priorities.

One of the cornerstone approaches of the Info Action Day is to give interested young people information, consultancy and guidance. The speakers will answer the questions and participants are encouraged to develop discussions on the ongoing educational programmes in Europe. The main goal of the event is to stimulate civic activism, improve EU related knowledge and raise the level of EU awareness among the young people.

The EU Centre is the main feature of the EU funded project “Support to the EU communication on reforms in Armenia.” Its goal is to raise awareness on EU development cooperation in Armenia and support education on the European Union. The Centre’s website is a gateway to EU cooperation with Armenia. The duration of the project is two years and it is implemented by GOPA-Cartermill S.A in consortium with Altair Asesores and Fainberg LLC.
