ICRC gives no comment on released captive’s health
Our main mission was to help the Armenian citizen return to his homeland. That mission was achieved. I cannot give any comment on Khojoyan’s health condition, Zara Amatuni, head of communication programs of the ICRC Yerevan Office, told Panorama.am.
Mamikon Khojoyan, 77, a resident of Verin Karmiraghbyur village in Armenia, was taken captive by Azerbaijan on January 28, 2014. He was handed over to Armenia on March 4. He is currently at Ijevan Medical Center and has serious health problems.
According to Mrs Amatuni, as a rule, the ICRC keeps in touch with captives’ families after they return to the homeland.
“If possible, we assist captives in dealing with social and health problems, but it is not our main mission,” she added.
