Azerbaijan does not deserve Karabakh: Analysis of Kamal Ali
Human rights situation in Azerbaijan is so bad that the Armenians in Karabakh don’t have anything to worry about, an unknown reader has written in a blog of Azerbaijani journalist Kamal Ali.
Kamal Ali in his article “We don’t deserve”, published in the website of Azerbaijani news agency Turan, in regard to the comment states that in this case we cannot disagree with the reader.
While Ali believes that he can raise an objection against the arguments of Armenian side concerning the right of Karabakh Armenians to self-determination, in this case he cannot say anything.
The author states that five years ago when he was having his vacation in the mountains, he found himself in a company of Moscow Azerbaijanis who came with the whole family to spend a month in a historic homeland. They were from Karabakh. Together with his son a mother lives, an elderly peasant woman wrapped in shawls.
“A conversation opened up, surely about Karabakh, because they were living there. I recalled the arguments of Armenians, with whom I encounter in Internet forums, that unable to create a just state in Azerbaijan, where people can live without fear of losing their property and freedom, official Baku has no moral right to demand from the world assistance concerning the return of Karabakh,” the article reads.
As Ali writes an elderly Azerbaijani woman, who is a native of Karabakh said quietly as if to herself, “If they (Armenians) say so, they say it right…”
“I will never forget her words, they cut into my mind,” Ali writes.
According to the author, Azerbaijani authorities are doing everything to make Christian Europe and U.S. feel sympathy towards their co-believers, Armenians. “The Azerbaijani authorities do everything to make Europe and U.S. not to wish to give them to Azerbaijan, where people are beaten, arrested and condemned only for the fact that they don’t want to leave their own houses.”
The article reads that because of the protest conducted by residents of “Sovetski” (Baku district, the houses of which authorities plan to destroy- ed.) the activists have been taken from their houses at night like in the year of 1937. They have been hastily convicted and taken to prison.
“Young people, students, workers, who have just started to live, are made unhappy, the authorities break their lives, leave their parents in stress. And at the same time as if in another planet, a couple of girls continuously show off in a corny commercials about “good life” and “elite culture” the article reads.
The author notes that all of them live together in one city. “Those who show the pastes on their heels have no God, no conciense, and no pity. They love puppies but not people. They don’t need Karabakh, they travel to Paris, thus showing to the World their cruelty towards Azerbaijanis, trampling our love towards our country, they leave us without it-without Karabakh, without Azerbaijan. Because one day we will be told: you don’t deserve Karabakh, as you are not able to create a country where people live without fear. One day we will be told: You don’t deserve Azerbaijan…” Kamal Ali sums up.
