There are similarities between Crimea and Karabakh, expert says
Political engineer Karen Kocharyan says he is surprised to hear opinions that there are no similarities between Crimea and Nagorno-Karabakh.
“I cannot understand it when they say there is no similarity,” he told reporters in Yerevan.
The expert said he is also surprised to hear that Ukraine lost Crimea. “When was Crimea Ukraine’s? Russia gifted it to Ukraine 50 years ago, but no one remembers it. Karabakh was gifted to Azerbaijan 100 years ago. There are a lot of similarities between Crimea and Nagorno-Karabakh.”
Commenting on the statements that the Crimea referendum can become a precedent for Karabakh, Kocharyan said that unlike Crimea, Karabakh held its referendum 22 years ago.
