Gallup survey: 88.7 percent of respondents opposed to new pension law
The Gallup International Association conducted a survey among 1,066 respondents in Yerevan in 2014 to find out the public opinion about the compulsory accumulative pension system introduction in Armenia. Gallup International representative Gayane Dajunts presented the survey results at a press conference on Tuesday.
88.7% of respondents are opposed to the new pension law, she said.
34.3 percent of respondents opposed to the accumulative pension system noted that they have no guarantees that the pension contributions will be returned, 32.9 percent said they have no trust in the government and 27.3 percent said that 5 percent deductions from their wages are a large sum.
46.2 percent of respondents in favor of new pension law said the state will make its contribution to the citizens’ future, 44.6 percent said they will receive higher pensions thanks to the new law and 21.2 percent said that developed countries have introduced such pension system.
