ARFD MP against drawing parallels between Karabakh and Crimea
At today’s briefing, head of ARF Dashnaktsutyun parliamentary faction Armen Rustamyan spoke about the resolution affirming Ukraine's territorial integrity approved by the UN General Assembly on March 27.
One hundred countries voted in favor of approving a UN General Assembly resolution declaring the Crimean referendum on 16 March illegal and affirming Ukraine's territorial integrity. Eleven nations voted against, with 58 abstentions.
“These one hundred countries will change their opinion in the course of time. I am convinced that tomorrow it will become clear that the people of Crimea really wanted to express their will. After all, the matter concerns the self-determination of a people,” Rustamyan said.
“I am against drawing parallels between Nagorno-Karabakh and Crimea. But one thing is clear: the people gained independence. So, the right of the peoples is dominating,” the lawmaker stressed.
