FPWC and VivaCell-MTS joint Earth Day Campaign 2014 kicks off with two events in Yerevan Zoo
The Earth Day Campaign 2014 kicked off on April 5th in Yerevan Zoo with a tree-planting event with the participation of volunteers from VivaCell-MTS staff and a contest dedicated to the International Day of Birds.
April 22nd is worldwide celebrated as Earth Day. Like many organizations all over the world, the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets (FPWC) jointly with its General Partner VivaCell-MTS also will mark this important day with a broad range of environmental activities in Yerevan and the regions. For the contest under the title “Welcome the Birds” FPWC and VivaCell-MTS invited everyone to participate in a competition of making the best bird nests. This colorful event gave the participants a chance to develop their knowledge about birds, their physiological structure, behavior, living conditions and peculiarities.
To participate in the competition, the groups brought the necessary materials and tools to make creative bird nests.
An independent jury headed by U.S. Ambassador John Heffern announced the results on the same day. The most active and creative participants received prizes from Yerevan Zoo, FPWC, LEGO representative of Armenia. They also received a special prize donated by VivaCell- MTS.
The participants were competing in 3 categories:
• Best Innovative Approach
• Best Idea
• Best Creative Solution
With the support of VivaCell-MTS, the entrance to Yerevan Zoo on the competition day was free for children under 16.
