‘I am against’ movement stages protest outside Finance Ministry
‘I am against’ civil movement opposed to the introduction of the compulsory accumulative pension system has staged a protest outside the Finance Ministry.
The protesters are holding banners reading “No one can force us to make pension payments.”
They plan to stage a march to the State Revenue Committee.
On April 2, the Constitutional Court of Armenia (CC) declared invalid a number of provisions of the Law on Accumulative Pensions. The law that entered into force on January 1, 2014 required that all the Armenian citizens born after January 1, 1974 must transfer 5% of their monthly salaries to a pension fund, with another 5% to be paid by the state.
