I am convinced that one person should not claim to the post of head of state more than twice in Armenia, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan said at the meeting with the commission for constitutional reform. 

“I head the largest political force in Armenia, Republican Party of Armenia, and regardless of what constitutional system will be finally chosen, the Republican Party of Armenia will continue playing weighty and crucial role in Armenia by those rules,” the President said.

“Prior to starting the discussions, I announce that I will not run for presidency again,” Serzh Sargsyan said, adding that if the parliamentary government system is chosen as a result of the discussions, he will not claim to the post of Prime Minister, either. 

Speaking about the government system of Armenia, the President stressed that the current government system is most acceptable for our country, at least in the current stage of development.

The President thanked Constitutional Court Chairman Gagik Harutyunyan and members of the commission for the large work done, noting that all important issues concerning the judiciary, all pros and cons should be discussed with the participation of representatives of that system.
