Azerbaijan opens fire at Armenian border villages
Azeri forces opened intense fire at border villages of Armenia’s Tavush province Monday evening, including the village of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur. No casualties were reported. Gas pipelines, windows and roofs were damaged in the three-hour shootout.
“The gunfire stopped at around 11:00 pm. Everything is calm at this moment. A monitoring will be conducted on the border of Aygepar village today and I have been invited to participate in it,” mayor of Movses village Ararat Avalyan told Panorama.am.
A resident of Nerkin Karmiraghbyur village said that the gas supply of the village was halted as the village gas pipeline exploded as a result of the enemy fire.
Spokesman for Armenian Defense Ministry Artsrun Hovhannisyan told Panorama.am that the Armenian side returned the fire to stop the enemy’s actions.
He added that the Armenian side suffered no casualties.
