Expert welcomes President’s statement about neutrality on Syrian conflict
The statement of Armenian President about the neutrality on the Syrian conflict is commendable, Turkish studies expert Karen Sirunyan told reporters. “We would take part in military operations and get involved in provocations,” he said.
Speaking about Turkey’s actions in Kessab, Sirunyan said that its activity is also connected with the upcoming centenary of Armenian Genocide. He added that following the Kessab events, U.S. Senate Foreign Relations Committee adopted an Armenian Genocide Resolution as well as a written declaration condemning the terrorist attacks against civilians in Kessab was adopted at PACE.
In this context, he said that Turkey’s strengthening will lead to independence of its domestic and foreign policy and superpowers will do everything to oppose it.
“Turkey carries out neo-Ottoman policy. The West is very serious about opening the Armenian-Turkish border and the circumstance of Armenian Genocide will be taken into account without fail,” Sirunyan said.
