Kurds are first group which must admit their complicity in Armenian Genocide - expert
The 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide is symbolic, but we must not think that if we do not manage to change anything by that time, then everything will be missed, Turkish studies expert Ruben Melkonyan told reporters in Yerevan.
He stressed that the Armenian Genocide is a crime which has no term of limitation and regardless of how many years pass, we should do everything possible to move the issue to the legal field.
Turkish journalist Aris Nalci, who joined the discussion via a space bridge, said for his part that the issue of Armenian Genocide is being raised in Istanbul from various platforms, both by Armenians and by Turks and Kurds.
“In 5-10 years, more people in Turkey will demand that the government speak about the Armenian Genocide,” he noted.
Ruben Melkonyan agreed with Mr Nalci, but at the same time said that although certain changes take place among a small part of Turkish society, Turkey maintains the policy of denial.
According to Melkonyan, currently, Kurds actively speak about the Armenian Genocide and they are the first group which must admit their complicity.
